Vision and Mission

Directorate of Technical Education has to maintain and enhance the quality of technical education by laying the policies, establishing and developing Government Institutions, guiding and supervising the aided private institutions, interacting with industry and national level institutions, coordinating with other departments of State Government, Government of India, Statutory Organisations and to contribute to the development of industry, society at large. 

 

Directorate of Technical Educationis dealing with all the technical education activities in the state. Currently there are 12 Engineering Colleges (9 Govt. Colleges and 3 Govt. aided Colleges), 51 Polytechnic Colleges (45 Govt. Polytechnics and 6 Govt. aided Polytechnics), 3 Fine Arts Colleges, 39 Technical High Schools, 17 Commercial Institutes and 42 Tailoring and Garment Making Centres functioning all over the state, under the control of the Directorate. In addition to this there are around 150 self financing Engineering Colleges both in the Govt. and private sector functioning in the state. 

There are two Regional Directorates and one Curriculum Development Centre are functioning as under the department. A Supervisory Development Centre and an Industry Institute Interaction Cell are functioning for the well being of the faculty and students of the Institutions. There is an Examination Wing working under the department for the conduct of diploma level examinations.

The Directorate coordinates the various activities of these institutions, including maintaining the standards of curricular and co-curricular activities. Various quality assurance meassures are being taken up to maintain the quality of technical education so that the students passing out of these institutions are widely accepted all over the world. Opportunities are being offered to teachers and students to interact with the experienced and expert academicians and also to visit the various leading educational institutions all over the world.

The Directorate ensures Industry Institute Interactions through various schemes so that the actual need of the hour can be analysed and curriculum modified to suit the same. Also, it organizes Various community service activities, using the facilities, experience and expertise available in the institution.
